Color Dreams agrees with Emulation! - December 22,1998 by JoseQ
In a first of what may turn out to be a legal trendto get console or otherwise ROMs into our homes, ZT Netwhich is essentially Emulation World, cut out a deal withColor Dreams to distribute their NES games, legally andexclusively from the Emulators Unlimited home pages. The agreement and all the legal details are explained on the page. As mentioned above, this could very well start a trend, in which companies owning copyright to games thatwould otherwise be dead, to cut deals in which they couldstart generating profits again. In this case, the paymentgoes out as a commision of advertising revenue, which insome cases might turn out to be good amounts of money forthose games which otherwise would no generate anything atall. This would in turn spark the interest in old games, and in new re-makes of those old classics. Kudos to ColorDreams and Emulation World for taking the first steps intogetting Emulation to look a lot more legal than theperceived reputation. Hopefully other companies would jumpin the same bandwagon and start releasing those old gamesand they will live happily ever after.
