The Rumor Mill - March 31,1999 by JoseQ
Well, it's getting kind of late, and it doesnt seemlike I'm going to get more info in, so I decided tolet's get on with it. Qman here, once again to coverall the Rumors lurking around in the world of emulation.Maybe not a lot of content for this edition, but it'sprobably because I've been too busy getting that othersite ready to rumble. I hope you guys like that one a lot.So let's jump right into the Rumors for this week.
Well this first rumor I have heard from a veryreliable source. It pertains to a kind of new emulatorthat will come out. It's main feature will be the speedat which it will perform. Don't say "but" just yet, asI know we've all seen Retrocade do its magic. This newemulator will do the same kind of magic, in your Windowsdesktop. NT people who haven't been able to play theirown Retrocade, you'll get a chance at speed very soon.Mostly classic arcade emulation will be included though.Keep an eye on EmuViews for news on this emulator, it'sURL, and a first release coming soon.
Some Rumors are also flying around saying that Rainesource was lost in the problems Richard Bush had with hiscomputer. Well, I'll use the Rumor Mill to clear up thatRumor. Raine source is safe and sound, and will soon beback to work. Apparently, one nice fellow sent a newHard Drive to Richard to help with the cause. Kudos tothat person for the help!
The other rumor, I already mentioned over at the EVNews article earlier. There is a new site, sponsored byEmuViews, that should solve all the ROM finding frenziesand help you find ROMs whenever you need them. The nameof the site will be RomDownload.Com. I'm helping with the scriptsand it should open this weekend hopefully. It will featureall kinds of download, and may even include some Neo Geodownloads every now and then. I'll let you know as soonas the site opens its doors.
I'll do the emulator round-up as I used to do, since theMill was so short this week. Lets see, in alphabetical orderfor Arcade Emus that should come out soon: C.A.G.E.? notanytime soon; Callus? retired, DTmnt? retired, MAME32?for beta 9, possibly within two days, MAMEnet? I'm hopingto see it around about the time .35 final hits the scene.R.A.G.E.? dead; Raine, two weeks once again. Retrocade? Two more weeks? Probably the case. Sparcade? Some actionthere recently, but no word from Dave Spicer, so Idon't think so. System 16? Is this dead? Maybe. See yanext week!

One Article Up: MAME32 0.35 beta 9!
One Article Down: Meka Page Updated
