Well, the Rumor Mill is back after a two week hiatus compared tothe usual one week. And I must say, I've got some juicy stuff for you. Eventhough Larry went ahead and released his emulator (which I was goingto rumorize and even show you SkyKid in action), I still have some goodinfo on MAME and System16 / M72 just for you, and exclusively fromEmuViews. So sit back and enjoy the ride, while I show you a coupleof cool things that are happening.

First I must mention rumors and realities about a certain gamecalled "Metal Slug X". This ROM was dumped and it came in at a hefty28Mbs in size. Even though I have had people willing to offer space forit to be distributed, it will not be distributed by EmuViews, not for yearsto come. This game was released just a few months ago, it is copyrighted1999, and it wouldn't make much sense in distributing it just yet. Maybein a few years.
Well, now back to more important rumors. Unless you've been livingunder a rock, or just started following emulation this year, you shouldknow that System 16 has barely shown signs of life since Dec 31st orJanuary 1st depending on your time zone. That's when the last releasewas made available. Unfortunately, it seems that Nao has either abandonedthe project or is unable/unwilling to continue its development. My dear trainedbirds to a long trip to Belgium, and found some things may indeed happenvery soon. It appears that due to the halting in development, not onlywill a current state System 16 might be released, but that the sourcemay be distributed so that someone else might continue with theproject. The 68000 emulator will not be included, but I'm sure somethinglike Neil Corlett's Starscream core would be easily pluggable. If thisunravels, I hear it should happen within a weeks time.
I believe it was EmuViews who first told you about Pit Fightercoming to MAME. And I believe it was me who hasn't told you anythingelse about it. Well, the Rumor is becoming a reality and I have some picsto maybe make you drool if you love this game. Enjoy:Screenshot 1
Screenshot 14Were those enough screenshots for you? What do you think ifI tell you there's another Atari Games arcade experience that automaticallybecame supported by the same driver? I'm sure you would say somethinglike 'Do you have screenshots to prove it?" and I would say "But of course".The name of the game is "Hydra" and it is a 1990 Arcade game I'm sureyou have enjoyed in the past. Well maybe not, but it sure looks likeyou will enjoy it in the future. Here are some pics for you:Screenshot 1
Screenshot 9Well, I guess those were plenty of screenshots as well. Thesegames are also protected by the dreaded Slapstic protection, soexpect some problems to surface up every now and then, as ithasn't been entirely broken.I also got some good news regarding Raine. A new beta was releasedto testers early in the week. This could mean that a small upgrade to thelatest Raine release is in turn. I'm definitely not saying that's what itmeans, because not always releases follow betas. As you have experiencedwith MAME, beta cycles can last long enough. I still think it's a goodsign, at least towards a healthier release, once it happens.
Another good news just in, it seems that the ROMs at EmuViews(most of them have been off since a few days ago) will come back witha vengeance. I'm about to sign a deal that'll guarantee that for sometime. I'll let you know when it happens.Well that should be enough rumors for now, considering wejust got a HiVE, MAME and Retrocade release within the last 4 days.Still, lots of exciting things are developing so keep an eye on EV formore good news.
